Years ago, entrepreneurs founded companies for a multitude of reasons. In the past decade as huge wealth has been created by a small percentage of highly visible entrepreneurs, wealth creation has become a distraction to the formation of truly great companies. I myself have been guilty of this thinking.
That’s why Lightspeed’s Jeremy Liew’s Post is so useful. His data shows that it takes 7 years to make a startup work right now. That’s a lot of time. Maybe this will come as a surprise to some, but it’s very important that founders know what they are getting into when they begin.
